Loan Policies: Student Information

Students may sign out library books or equipment as long as they have their student I.D. with them. They must also have returned any overdue books or equipment and have paid any existing fines before they may check anything out from the library.

New I.D.s are provided to students each year. Students are charged $2.00 if a replacement I.D. needs to be made. They are made in the library. Students who have not had their picture taken by the school and were not absent on the picture taking days will be charged to have an I.D. made.

Students may renew regular library books for an additional two weeks as long as no one else has reserved them. They also must have paid any library fines before renewing books. Overdue books can only be renewed as long as the books are brought to the library at the time of renewal. Reference and reserve materials cannot be renewed. I.D.s are not required for renewals.

It is important that students either return all library books and equipment when they are due or renew them before they are overdue. By doing this we are able to provide these materials to other students and staff members who may have reserved them. Even if you are not in school on the day that it is due, please contact us to let us know that you are out so that other people are not kept waiting. If you are at home you can either email the library at mtalibrary@link75.org or call us at 729-2951 ext. 254. (I.D. cards are not required for renewal.)

If you are in school come to the circulation desk. Any equipment not returned by 8:00 am (9:15 am on Wednesdays) will be considered late. If a student, who is in school, returns a camera late that student will receive a warning. The second time a camera is returned late that student will be removed from the camera list for the remainder of the school year.

The library follows the M.S.A.D. No. 75 Guidelines for the Use of Audiovisual Works. Students who want to view videos that are rated R need to be 17 or older or have a note from a parent to be able to view the videos.

Use of audiovisual equipment by both students and teachers must be for school-related use only. Please do not ask to borrow any equipment for personal projects. The library also loans out equipment to nonprofit community organizations as long as the requests do not interfere with the needs of the school's programs.

Students may check out most audiovisual equipment for in-school or overnight use by coming to the circulation desk with their student I.D. As long as the student does not have any fines or overdue books, the equipment may then be checked out.

In order to check out a camera or camcorder, there are more steps involved. The student must first be trained in the use of the equipment. A permission form must then be signed by a parent or guardian (if the student is under 18). Then the student may check out the equipment as noted above with their student I.D.

Students are also reminded by the library when they check out equipment for overnight use that they are responsible for loss or damage to the equipment.

Loan Policies: Teacher Information

Teachers are encouraged to borrow materials from the library for use in their classrooms, for teaching preparation at home, or for personal enjoyment. All materials must be checked out if they are going to be taken from the library area--even for "just a moment."

Please plan to sign out library materials in person if at all possible. We request that you do not send students to borrow materials for you unless you send a signed request or have made prior arrangements with us.

Audiovisual Equipment: Reservations

The reservation book for audiovisual equipment is located in the library. Overhead projectors, CD players and cassette recorders can be signed out on a permanent basis. The rest of the equipment can be reserved for the periods it is needed. All equipment, except the multimedia projectors and video carts, must be picked up from and returned to the library.

Multimedia projectors and video carts will be delivered to classrooms. However, they must be reserved in the signup book by 7:30 am. At that time the equipment circulation is organized for the day. It is also important that teachers do not switch any equipment unless they first check it out with the library. The multimedia projector or video cart in the room next to you is not necessarily the one that will be delivered to you the following period.

If there is a snow day on which you have reserved equipment, all equipment that was scheduled for the missed day will be delivered on the first day back. For example, if we miss a red Monday, on the first day back (red Tuesday), we would deliver the equipment scheduled for the red Monday.
