Searching the New York Times
Searching the New York Times at Bowdoin is made harder by the way the Academic Universe/Lexis-Nexis database hides the ability to select only one publication to search. The steps:
- From "Indexes/Databases" choose the first option, "Academic Universe."
- From "Academic Universe" choose the first option, "News."
- From "News" choose the first option, "General News."
- From "General News" choose the second tab, "More Options."
- The "More Options" page allows you to limit your search to one publication. Fill in the fields at the top of the form as needed, and then, at the bottom, specify "New York Times" in "Search this publication title."
- There seems to be a bug in this search mode -- the first article returned by your search is often not from the Times. All those that follow, however, are correct.
