Summer Reading & Writing: Part Two

for students entering Advanced English II

Buy and read the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. Enjoy the reading! Complete a theme-tracking sheet or journal based on your reading of the novel. See the attached instructions on how to track themes.

Keep in mind this is work for an advanced class. When you return to school in September, you will be required to write an essay in class using only your theme tracking notes as a reference. Both the essay and your tracking notes will be assessed by your teacher as part of your first-quarter grade.

Please note that your acceptance into the Advanced Level in September is contingent upon the completion of these summer reading requirements.
