Foreign Language Curriculum Summary

The development of French, German and Spanish languages will be achieved evolving from words and lists, to short sentences, uncomplicated paragraphs (strings of sentences) to well developed paragraphs in the skills of listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

Level I

  • Greet and respond to greeting, introduce and respond to introductions
  • Engage in conversations
  • Express likes and dislikes
  • Make requests
  • Obtain information
  • Understand some ideas and some familiar details
  • Respond to questions and provide information

Level II

  • Perform all the functions described in Level I
  • Engage in conversations
  • Express likes and dislikes
  • Provide and obtain specific information
  • Express important ideas and a few details
  • Understand important ideas and a few details
  • Describe and compare
  • Express needs
  • Use and understand expressions indicating emotion

Level III

  • Perform all the functions in Levels I and II
  • Describe and compare
  • Understand description and comparison
  • Ask for clarification and clarify
  • Comprehend clarification
  • Ask for and give directions
  • Understand directions
  • Give and understand advice and suggestions
  • Derive new information and knowledge
  • Express opinions
  • Understand expressed opinions
  • Write a narration in present, past, and future
  • Understand narration in present, past, and future
  • Able to identify and state feelings, emotions
  • Understand expression of feelings and emotions

Level IV

  • Perform all the functions described in Levels I, II, and III

LEVEL V
