The Coastal Youth Orchestra will hold auditions Wednesday December 19th for students wanting to join its ensembles. To learn more about membership or to schedule and audition please contact Nancy Roderick at 729-5156 or nancyrod@gwi.net
CYO's has three ensembles. The Fiddleheads and the Coastal String Ensemble, conducted by Nancy Roderick, are a beginning and intermediate string group. The Coastal Chamber Orchestra is a high school level group which includes strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion and is conducted by Karla Kelley.
The orchestra was established in 2002 to provide a high-quality orchestral experience for string students of all levels and more advanced wind, brass and percussion musicians. CYO works to provide a fun, stimulating and challenging setting in which young students can develop their musical skills and learn about performance and music literature.
In May the Coastal Youth Orchestra will perform in collaboration with the Southern Maine Children's Chorus.
