FebruaryOur Town : A Play in Three ActsPortrays life in Grover's Corner, New Hampshire, in the early 1900's through the routine daily events and the major moments in the lives of George Gibbs, Emily Webb, and their families; and how their lives, although mundane, are touched by the universal forces of love, despair, apathy, nature, and death. MarchEndurance : Shackleton's Incredible VoyageProvides an account of the voyage undertaken by polar explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew aboard the Endurance in 1914-15, telling how the men survived after their ship became locked inside an island of ice and drifted for ten months before being crushed. This book is the Community Read 2004 book. The March meeting of Books 'n Munchies will be Wednesday, March 10 at 3:00 pm at Topsham Public Library. A viewing of the IMAX film Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure will be shown prior to the discussion. This meeting will be part of the Community Read activities. Related Sites: |
