Services Teachers Can Perform for the Library

Providing a good library program is certainly a two-way street. There are a few ways in which you can help us serve you better.

  • Keep the librarian informed of materials (print or non-print) needed to support and enhance your teaching. Offer suggestions of materials that should be purchased for the library collection.
Note: The library only purchases materials for the library collection. Materials that need to be kept as part of classroom collections must be purchased with departmental funds.
  • Notify the librarian of upcoming and ongoing library assignments. Let him know in advance of assignments requiring use of the library so that the first students who arrive don't sign out all the materials.
  • Give the librarian copies of all assignment sheets and handouts relating to library research projects. This will better allow us to provide assistance to students working on your assignments.
  • When planning a library-related assignment check first with the librarian to make certain enough supporting materials are available.
  • Keep the librarian informed of changes in your curriculum.
  • Volunteer some time to review the collection in your subject area and make suggestions about materials that should be discarded or added to the collection.
